Field Trip: Tampa Bay Watch Snorkeling

May 9 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

$25

Sandbar Snorkeling – Immerse yourself in Tampa Bay and explore the various habitats and their inhabitants! Snorkeling is for ages 5 and up – we will be in water that is 4 feet and shallower. Participants must bring water shoes – snorkel gear will be provided but you may bring your own.

Classroom Lab – Pier into Plankton – Take a look at the microscopic marvels in our bay. Students collect and identify plankton using microscopes, then learn about its role in ocean health.

Discovery Center – Our exhibit gallery showcases the economic and ecological value of the Tampa Bay estuary to residents and visitors. The focal point is a large 1,800 gallon estuary habitat that replicates the living habitat of many of the species found in our local waters. Visitors can also enjoy interactive displays, video presentations, a touch tank, and docent-led talks.

Please register early as space is limited!

Our tentative schedule is that we will arrive at 10am. One group will go out snorkeling while the others tour the discovery center and then do the classroom lab. At noon, we will all come together for lunch and then the groups will switch, so please let me know if you are only interested in the boat or just the classroom as we can change the schedule until April 22nd.

Classroom lab is $9 per student. Snorkeling is $16 per person on the boat whether they snorkel or not. At least 2 adults must get in the water with the kids, but otherwise, you are allowed to stay on the boat if you prefer.
